Life is a journey in which each new challenge draws on the skills and sensibilities one has acquired. Reinhart Struzyna R.A. has honed his craft through years of immersion in architectural design, woodworking and residential construction. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Architecture program, he has maintained his own practice in Philadelphia for 30+ years.
The dovetail joint is highly prized among craftsmen for creating an elegant bond between two pieces of wood. This is symbolic of Reinhart’s belief that the design and building process must be engaged in order to achieve a pleasing result. In the 1980’s he entered into a design-build partnership that specialized in the creation of custom homes. Some of these projects included commissions for the design and/or execution of fixtures and furnishings. The insight gained from active participation in construction and the artistry explored in original handcrafted furniture have contributed to the evolution of his architecture.
Reinhart frequently collaborates with his partner Paula Becvar who provides input on a wide range of design issues. Paula received a Masters degree in Interior Architecture and Space Planning from Drexel University and has contributed to many projects with her keen sense of spatial development and application of color and materials.
Mr. Struzyna designs for his client’s needs and preferences while coordinating with select builders for a seamless construction effort. His projects display a high level of craftsmanship and incorporate sustainable materials as well as energy efficient techniques and systems to maximize comfort and minimize their life-cycle cost. A careful listener dedicated to realizing his client’s vision, Reinhart would be pleased to discuss your project with you.
